The most surprising game was a loss of Skallagrimur (1-1) in Borganes on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by Snaefell (1-1) 84-73. American swingman Kristen McCarthy (180-90, college: Temple) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 53 points (!!!), 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Rebekka Karlsdottir (162-96) contributed with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American swingman Carmen Tyson-Thomas (180-91, college: Syracuse, agency: Two Points) replied with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds and the former international power forward Sigrun Amundadottir (181-88) added 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Skallagrimur. Snaefell is looking forward to face Haukar in Hafnarfjordur in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Skallagrimur will play on the road against Valur in Reykjavik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
