Regular Season Round 5: Shiga L-Stars - Toshiba BT 78-81

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when fourth ranked Toshiba Thunders (3-1) edged on the road 3rd placed Shiga L-Stars (1-3) 81-78 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-20. But Shiga L-Stars won second period 18-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Toshiba Thunders won last quarter 24-22. Strangely Shiga L-Stars outrebounded Toshiba Thunders 37-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) stepped up and scored 26 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import forward Josh Davis (203-91, college: San Diego St.) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Guard Narito Namizato (172-89) responded with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and American-Israeli center DOr Fischer (211-81, college: W.Virginia) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points, 13 rebounds and 5 blocks. Five Shiga L-Stars players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Toshiba Thunders have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 8 other teams. Shiga L-Stars lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with three games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
