Regular Season Round 5: Shimane SM - Tochigi Brex 68-75

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both sixth ranked Tochigi Brex and 4th placed Shimane Magic had identical 1-2 record. But Shimane Magic was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Tochigi 75-68 on Sunday night. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-13. But Shimane Magic won second period 15-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tochigi Brex made 20-of-21 free shots (95.2 percent) during the game. American power forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) stepped up and scored 23 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and international point guard Shusuke Ikuhara (180-94) chipped in 15 points. American center Garrett Stutz (214-90, college: Wichita St.) responded with 16 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import forward Josh Scott (208-93, college: Colorado, agency: Pensack Sports) scored 7 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion (2-2) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with San-en. Newly promoted Shimane Magic dropped to the third position with three games lost. Tochigi Brex will face league's leader Chiba Jets at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
