Montegrano used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Roseto 98-87 on Sunday night. Montegrano outrebounded Roseto Sharks 33-18 including 22 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American LaMarshall Corbett (189-88, college: Angelo St.) who scored 29 points and 4 assists. The other American import Marshawn Powell (201-90, college: Arkansas, agency: HMS) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds. Power forward Ion Lupusor (203-96) produced 21 points and 5 rebounds and American guard Darell Combs (188-93, college: IUPUI) added 21 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) respectively for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Montegrano will face UCC Piacenza (#11) in Casalpusterlengo in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Roseto Sharks will play on the road against Agribertocchi OR (#13) in Orzinuovi and hope to win that game.
