No shocking result in a game when Arxil Pontevedra (2-0) crushed on the road Oviedo (0-2) 79-47 on Sunday. The game without a history. Arxil Pontevedra led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Oviedo to just 7 points in first quarter. Arxil Pontevedra dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Oviedo's 20. Oviedo was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Cristina Diaz (182-93) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points. British guard Chantel Charles (178-94, college: Maine) contributed with 10 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Arxil Pontevedra players scored in double figures. Danish swingman Anne Pedersen (185-92, college: LSU) replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and center Carolina Ramos (190-93) added 16 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) in the effort for Oviedo. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Arxil Pontevedra will face Real Celta Vigo (#4) at home in the next round. Oviedo will play against Aros Patatas (#1) in Leon and hope to win that game.
