Regular Season Round 4: Yamagata - Fukuoka Rizing 81-84 OT

Yamagata (#3) forced the game against Fukuoka Rizing (#1) into an overtime, but lost by three points 81-84 on Sunday night. The game took place in Yamagata. But the guests from Fukuoka were better at the end. The guests trailed by 14 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game in overtime by 3 points. Fukuoka Rizing looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Yasuhiro Yamashita (187-86) who helped to win the game recording 22 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. American Eric Jacobsen (208-94, college: Arizona St.) contributed with 19 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Fukuoka Rizing players scored in double figures. American center Will Creekmore (205-89, college: Missouri St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Seiji Kouno (172-89) added 12 points and 8 assists in the effort for Yamagata. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Fukuoka Rizing have a solid four-game winning streak. Newly promoted Fukuoka Rizing maintains first position with 4-0 record, which they share with Akita NH and Shinshu BW. Yamagata lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with three games lost. Fukuoka Rizing will face league's second-placed Kanazawa Sam. in Ishikawa in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Yamagata will play on the road against Iwate Big Bulls and hope to win that game.
