Regular Season Round 2: Germani BR - Scandone AV 96-75

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Scandone AV (1-1) in Brescia on Sunday night. Visitors were rolled over by Germani BR (2-0) 96-75. The hosts trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 96-75. Germani BR dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Scandone AV's 30. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. International guard Michele Vitali (196-91) notched 19 points to lead the effort and American forward Dario Hunt (206-89, college: Nevada) supported him with 19 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Even 16 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists by American forward Maarten Leunen (206-85, college: Oregon) did not help to save the game for Scandone AV. His fellow American import guard Jason Rich (191-86) added 18 points for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Germani BR will meet Dolomiti En. TR (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Scandone AV will play against Fiat TO and hope to win that game.
