Regular Season Round 9: Danang Dragons - Hochiminh CW 63-60

The most exciting game of round 9 in the VBA took place in Danang. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Hochiminh CW (3-6) to sixth ranked Danang Dragons (1-6) 63-60 on Sunday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 17-11. But Hochiminh CW won second period 16-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Danang Dragons forced 21 Hochiminh CW turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Canadian center Rudolphe Joly (208-92, college: Sheridan JC) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 16 rebounds for the winners and point guard Tuan Nguyen (178) chipped in 15 points. Danang Dragons' coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American guard Henry Nguyen (, college: Orange Coast CC) with 15 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals and center Tuan Le-Cong (188) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Defending champion maintains sixth place with 1-6 record. Hochiminh CW at the other side keeps the fifth position with six games lost. Danang Dragons are again looking forward to face higher ranked Hochiminh CW (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hochiminh CW will have a break next round.
