Regular Season Round 3: Real Madrid - Zaragoza 93-65
Date: October 8, 2017
Very expected game when Zaragoza (0-3) was rolled over on the road by Real Madrid (3-0) 93-65. The game was mostly controlled by Real Madrid. Zaragoza was better in third quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Real Madrid dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Zaragoza's 28 and made 23-of-28 charity shots (82.1 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Zaragoza 44-22 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. 27 personal fouls committed by Zaragoza helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was an exceptional evening for Slovenian guard Luka Doncic (201-99) who led the winners and scored 10 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. American-Slovenian Anthony Randolph (211-89, college: LSU) accounted for 13 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Four Real Madrid players scored in double figures. Center Alejandro Suarez (206-93, agency: Interperformances) came up with 12 points and 6 rebounds and American guard Gary Neal (193-84, college: Towson) added 12 points respectively for Zaragoza in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Real Madrid's next round opponent will be Valencia Basket (#5) on the road. Zaragoza will play against RETAbet BB (#11) in Bilbao and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
