Regular Season Round 2: Niigata R. - Fujitsu RW 68-87

Very predictable result when Fujitsu RW (2-0) rolled over Niigata R. (0-2) in Tokyo 87-68 on Sunday. Fujitsu RW shot 21 for 28 from the free-throw line, while Niigata R. only scored two points from the stripe. They outrebounded Niigata R. 49-31 including 19 on the offensive glass. Fujitsu RW looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Forward Midori Murayama (178-93) notched a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and center Miwa Kuribayashi (187-98) supported her with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Even 15 points and 5 assists by point guard Megumi Yamasawa (162-96) did not help to save the game for Niigata R.. Forward Anka Ohama (180-92) added 11 points and 6 rebounds for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Fujitsu RW will meet Haneda Vickies (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Niigata R. will play against JX-Eneos S. and hope to win that game.
