Regular Season Round 5: Toyota Alvark - Niigata Albirex 78-72

Everything went according to plan in Tokyo where first ranked Toyota Alvark (3-1) beat 3rd placed Niigata Albirex (3-1) 78-72 on Monday. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 78-72. The former international forward Daiki Tanaka (191-91) stepped up and scored 20 points and 6 assists for the winners and American center Alex Kirk (211-91, college: N.Mexico, agency: Pensack Sports) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. Four Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures. American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) responded with 35 points (!!!) and the former international guard Kei Igarashi (180-80) scored 13 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toyota Alvark have a solid series of three victories in a row.
