Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Riga: Gulbenes Buki (#7) and VEF skola (#3). VEF skola was smashed at home by 20 points 73-93 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The game without a history. Gulbenes Buki led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Gulbenes Buki outrebounded VEF skola 41-24 including a 31-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by VEF skola's players. Swingman Ingars Aizpurs (195-92) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Center Roberts Mednis (205-89) contributed with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Four Gulbenes Buki players scored in double figures.
