Regular Season Round 5: Al-Ittihad - Al-Muharraq 82-104

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Manama. Leader Al-Muharraq faced 4th placed Al-Ittihad. Guests from Al Muharraq (5-0) smashed host Al-Ittihad (3-2) 104-82. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Al-Ittihad. Al-Muharraq made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Al-Ittihad 35-21 including a 29-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Al-Muharraq shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Mohamed Alderazi (194-80) who scored 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Bader Abdulla chipped in 23 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Five Al-Muharraq players scored in double figures. Al-Muharraq's coach Ivan Jeremic felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Antwan Wilkerson (201-91, college: Johnson C. Smith) produced 34 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Sayed-Mohd Hameed added 20 points respectively for the hosts. Al-Muharraq have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 5-0 record. Al-Ittihad at the other side dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. They share it with Al-Hala. Al-Muharraq are looking forward to face league's second-placed Al-Ahli in Manama in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Al-Ittihad will play on the road against Al-Manama in Manama and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
