Regular Season Round 5: Hiroshima D. - Kumamoto V. 71-65

Everything could happen in Hiroshima at the game between two tied teams. Both second ranked Dragonflies and 4th placed Kumamoto V. had identical 3-2 record. This time Dragonflies used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Kumamoto 71-65 on Thursday night. Kumamoto V. trailed 35-34 at halftime, rallying from a 21-6 deficit at the end of first quarter to trim the gap. Dragonflies dominated on the defensive end, holding Kumamoto V. to just 6 points in first quarter. They also forced 23 Kumamoto V. turnovers. Strangely Kumamoto V. outrebounded Dragonflies 43-20 including a 15-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. American power forward Clint Chapman (208-89, college: Texas) stepped up and scored 22 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import guard Terrence Drisdom (196-92, college: Cal Poly Pomona) chipped in 17 points and 4 steals. Dragonflies' coach Jamie Andrisevic used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American guard Terrance Woodbury (201-87, college: Georgia) responded with 29 points and Dutch-Australian power forward Josh Duinker (209-89, college: Richmond) scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Dragonflies. They maintain second place with 4-2 record behind leader Shinshu BW. Loser Kumamoto V. keeps the fourth position with three games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
