First defeat of Amsterdam (1-1) against Groningen (1-1) 88-55 was the most important game of the last round. The game without a history. Groningen led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Groningen outrebounded Amsterdam 43-30 including 29 on the defensive glass. The former international center Thomas Koenis (211-89, agency: Court Side) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Evan Bruinsma (202-92, college: Detroit Mercy, agency: Inception Sports) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Five Groningen players scored in double figures. The former international swingman Dimeo Van Der Horst (197-91) replied with 8 points and 4 assists and forward Michael Madanly (196-81) added 12 points in the effort for Amsterdam. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Amsterdam will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest. Groningen will try to continue on its current victory against Rotterdam on the road.
