BAM Poprad's fans can celebrate the first win of their team after two consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Slovan (1-3) 78-50 on Friday. BAM Poprad dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Slovan's 26. They outrebounded Slovan 44-23 including a 16-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by Zuzana Ivancakova (178-93) who scored that evening 19 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and Lucia Hadacova (185-95) supported her with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Even 15 points and 8 rebounds by naturalized Polish center Bianka Vaigl (180-95) did not help to save the game for Slovan. Center Renata Talajkova (190-81) added 10 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. BAM Poprad (1-2) left bottom position moving up to fifth place. Loser Slovan keeps the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with Banska Bystrica. BAM Poprad will meet bottom-ranked UKF Nitra (#8) on the road in the next round. Slovan will play against Banska Bystrica and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
