Regular Season Round 5: Multiopticas Baza - Almeria 78-90

Another exciting game was played in Alicante between leader Almeria and 4th placed Multiopticas Baza where Almeria (2-0) beat Multiopticas Baza (1-1) on the road 90-78. It was a key game for the top position in Group D-A. The guests were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Almeria made 16-of-17 charity shots (94.1 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 Multiopticas Baza turnovers. Guard Jesus Castro (191-83) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Joaquin Reyes (196-96) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Five Almeria players scored in double figures. Forward Luis Lopez (198-93) answered with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and center Jorge Rodriguez (198-94) added 21 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Multiopticas Baza. Multiopticas Baza's coach Mariano Garcia tested twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Almeria maintains first place in Group D-A with 2-0 record, which they share with Marbella and Cazorla. Multiopticas Baza at the other side keeps the fourth position with one game lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Almeria will play against league's second-placed Cazorla at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Multiopticas Baza will play against Marbella and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
