Regular Season Round 5: Naron - Coruna II 88-66

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Coruna II (0-3) was crushed on the road by seventh ranked Naron (2-1) 88-66 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Naron. Coruna II was better in fourth quarter 22-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Coruna II 36-25 including 28 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American Shanon Fowler (-93) who scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Mario Lopez (195-97) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. Five Naron players scored in double figures. Forward Ruben Rey (198-93) produced 22 points and guard Pablo Ferreiro (187-98) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Naron moved-up to fifth place in Group A-B, which they share with Estudiantes L. and Chantada. Newly promoted Coruna II still closes the standings with three games lost. Naron will face Gijon (#16) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Coruna II will play against COB and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
