Regular Season Round 5: Swords Thunder - KUBS 93-48

Bottom-ranked KUBS is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their fifth consecutive match to second ranked Swords Thunder (4-1) 93-48. Swords Thunder dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to KUBS's 26. They outrebounded KUBS 48-32 including a 36-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Swords Thunder players were unselfish on offense dishing 33 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by KUBS's players. The best player for the winners was American forward Justin Goldsborough (203, college: Lehigh) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. The former international point guard Isaac Westbrooks (189-85) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 assists. Four Swords Thunder players scored in double figures. Swingman Brian Andrews (196-95) produced 13 points and 4 assists and Stephen Ingle added 11 points and 4 steals respectively for the guests. KUBS's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Swords Thunder maintains second place with 4-1 record having just one point less than leader UCD Marian, which they share with Tralee. KUBS at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. Swords Thunder's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Maree (#12) in Galway and are hoping to win another game. KUBS will play at home against Templeogue and hopes to get finally their first victory.
