Regular Season Round 5: Villarrobledo - Rivas 90-68

There was a minor upset when 4th placed Rivas (3-1) was rolled over on the road by seventh ranked Villarrobledo (3-1) 90-68 on Saturday. The game without a history. Villarrobledo led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 60.7 percent from the field. Villarrobledo outrebounded Rivas 39-21 including a 30-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Rivas' players. The best player for the winners was Senegalese forward Bruno Diatta (208-96) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 20 rebounds. American forward Vadal Faniel (201-92, college: Texas A&M Int.) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. Four Villarrobledo players scored in double figures. American guard Terence Grier (188-87, college: Fair Dickinson) produced 14 points and swingman Javier De-Pinto (197-92) added 16 points respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Villarrobledo moved-up to third place in Group B, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Rivas. Villarrobledo will face Liceo Frances (#13) in Madrid in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Rivas will play at home against Casvi (#15) and hope to win that game.
