Regular Season Round 5: Bambitious Nara - Sendai 89ers 69-89

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both third ranked Sendai 89ers and 5th ranked Bambitious Nara had identical 1-3 record. But Bambitious Nara was not able to use a home court advantage and was outscored by the opponent from Sendai 89-69 on Saturday night. The game without a history. Sendai 89ers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. Sendai 89ers outrebounded Bambitious Nara 48-28 including a 37-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Bambitious Nara was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Nigerian-Canadian Olu Ashaolu (200-88, college: Oregon) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and U.S. Virgin Islands center Craig Williams (206-89, college: TCU) chipped in 15 points and 13 rebounds. South African center Tshilidzi Nephawe (208-89, college: N.Mexico St.) responded with 17 points and 9 rebounds and American power forward Gary Hamilton (208-84, college: Miami, FL, agency: Inception Sports) scored 11 points and 8 rebounds. Four Bambitious Nara players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Sendai 89ers maintains third place with 2-3 record having just three points less than leader Shinshu BW. Bambitious Nara lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. Sendai 89ers will have a break next round. Bambitious Nara will play again at home against Sendai 89ers (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
