Regular Season Round 5: Aomori Watts - Fukushima 77-96

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Fukushima (3-2) outleveled on the road bottom-ranked Aomori Watts (0-5) 96-77 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Fukushima. Aomori Watts was better in second period 23-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Fukushima dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Aomori Watts' 36 and made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Aomori Watts 49-27 including a 37-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Fukushima looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Nigerian center Solomon Alabi (216-88, college: Florida St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 17 rebounds for the winners and American guard Deon Jones (198-93, college: Monmouth) chipped in 16 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Fukushima's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Point guard Toshio Kan (184-94) responded with 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Nick Banyard (203-94, college: Cent.Florida) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Five Fukushima and four Aomori Watts players scored in double figures. Fukushima maintains second place with 3-2 record having just two points less than leader Shinshu BW, which they share with 5 other teams. Aomori Watts lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. Fukushima will have a break next round. Aomori Watts will play again at home against the league's second-placed Fukushima (#2) and hope to get finally their first victory.
