Regular Season Round 3: Kouvot - Helmi Basket 93-57

An interesting game took place in Kouvola where Helmi Basket (1-3) was upset on the court of Kouvottaret (1-2) 93-57. The game was mostly controlled by Kouvottaret. Helmi Basket was better in second period 20-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Helmi Basket to just 7 points in third quarter. It was a good game for American forward Whitney Frazier (180-92, college: Louisiana Tech) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Her fellow American import point guard Brittany Carter (183-93, college: Illinois) contributed with 25 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five Kouvottaret players scored in double figures. Guard Sara Bejedi (166-0) answered with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and Elina Arike (182-0) added 9 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Helmi Basket. Helmi Basket's coach Pekka Salminen gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Kouvottaret's next round opponent will be Forssan Alku (#6) on the road. Helmi Basket will play against Aanekosken and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
