Regular Season Round 5: Cordobasket - San Juan 77-85

There was a minor upset when 3rd placed Cordobasket (1-1) was defeated at home by seventh ranked San Juan (1-1) 85-77 on Saturday. San Juan shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 55.6 percentage. The best player for the winners was forward Samuel Ceada (198-91) who scored 23 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Antonio Rodriguez (185-78) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds. Four San Juan players scored in double figures. American guard Ishmael Sanders (188, college: Carson-Newman) produced 27 points and 4 steals and Venezuelan forward Albert Arias (194-89) added 9 points and 13 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. San Juan left bottom position moving up to third place in Group D-B, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Cordobasket. San Juan will face ULB OH!TELS (#7) in La Linea in the next round. Cordobasket will play on the road against Sevilla 2 (#10) and hope to win that game.
