Regular Season Round 7: San-en - Niigata Albirex 79-76

Round 7 in B League means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Hamamatsu where host San-en NeoPhoenix (3-2) edged league's leader Niigata Albirex (3-2) 79-76 on Saturday evening. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Niigata Albirex was trailing by 6 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 24-17 charge of San-en NeoPhoenix, which allowed them to win the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Guard Shuto Tawatari (185-90) fired 23 points for the winners. Canadian center Scott Morrison (213-86, college: Portland St.) chipped in 6 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. American Austin Dufault (205-90, college: Colorado, agency: HMS) produced 20 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Jun Uzawa (197-81) added 19 points respectively for lost side. San-en NeoPhoenix have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Niigata Albirex and Toyama Grouses. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
