Regular Season Round 5: Monaco - Cholet 86-62
Date: October 14, 2017
Very predictable result when third ranked Monaco (4-1) smashed at home 15th ranked Cholet Basket (1-4) 86-62 on Saturday. The game without a history. Monaco led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Cholet Basket's 38. American point guard Gerald Robinson (185-89, college: Georgia) stepped up and scored 16 points for the winners and naturalized American forward Georgi Joseph (197-82, college: Kennesaw St.) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). Five Monaco players scored in double figures. Center Jerry Boutsiele (207-92) responded with 8 points and 10 rebounds and Icelandic Haukur Palsson (197-92, college: Maryland) scored 13 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Monaco. They moved-up to second place, which they share with ASVEL and Hyeres-Toulon. Loser Cholet Basket dropped to the fourteenth position with four games lost. Monaco will face JL Bourg (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Cholet Basket will play against JSF Nanterre (#9) and hope to win that game.
