Regular Season Round 5: Ehime OV - Kagawa FA 87-79

Rather expected game in Matsuyama where 6th ranked Kagawa FA (1-4) was defeated by fourth ranked Orange Vikings (3-2) 87-79 on Saturday. Kagawa FA was trailing by 11 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 25-16 charge of Orange Vikings, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 22 Kagawa FA turnovers. Strangely Kagawa FA outrebounded Orange Vikings 43-24 including 31 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Toshino Yoshihiko (186-92) stepped up and scored 29 points for the winners and guard Toshino Tatsuhiko (185-88) chipped in 21 points and 7 assists. American forward Reginald Warren (204-81, college: W.Florida) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds and the other American import guard Montay Brandon (203-93, college: Florida St.) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Five Orange Vikings and four Kagawa FA players scored in double figures. Kagawa FA's coach Kohei Etoh rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Orange Vikings moved-up to second place, which they share with 5 other teams. Loser Kagawa FA dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. Orange Vikings will face again Kagawa FA (#6) in Takamatsu in the next round.
