No shocking result in a game when top-ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq (2-0) defeated at home 10th ranked Nice (1-3) 79-66. Villeneuve D'Ascq forced 19 Nice turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. The winners were led by British Johannah Leedham (178-87, college: Franklin Pierce) who scored that evening 16 points, 7 assists and 5 steals and DR Congolese power forward Pauline Akonga-Nsimbo (188-82, agency: LBM Management) supported her with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Villeneuve D'Ascq's coach Frederic Dusart allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 24 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists by the former international power forward Geraldine Robert (183-80) did not help to save the game for Nice. Naturalized Mali center Naignouma Coulibaly (191-89) added 10 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for lost side. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place.
