Bottom-ranked Laarne is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their sixth consecutive match to fourth ranked Belfius Namur (4-2) 99-69 on Saturday evening. Belfius Namur dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Laarne's 24 and made 22-of-23 free shots (95.7 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Laarne 42-18 including a 31-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for American center Briana Day (193-95, college: Syracuse, agency: LBM Management) who led her team to a victory with 24 points and 5 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). The former international swingman Hanne Mestdagh (178-93, college: Colorado St., agency: ProDep Management) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Spanish guard Victoria Vine (173-95, college: Eckerd) replied with 20 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and forward Ilse Deforche (173-92) added 14 points in the effort for Laarne. Four Laarne players scored in double figures. Belfius Namur have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 4-2 record, which they share with Waregem. Loser Laarne still closes the standings with six games lost. Belfius Namur will face league's second-placed Castors Braine at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Laarne will play against the league's leader Kangoeroes (#1) in Boom and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
