Very expected game when 8th ranked Etzella (1-4) was defeated on the road by second ranked Contern (4-1) 71-58 on Saturday. Contern well out of reach of Etzella shooting 100.0 percent from the field. The best player for the winners was American guard Rachel Howard (178-95, college: USF) who scored 25 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Her fellow American import forward Brittany Hodges (185-93, college: Furman) chipped in 20 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Swedish guard Stefanie Yderstrom (173-90, college: Miami, FL) produced 15 points and Canadian forward Alexandra Klein (185-94, college: Bryant) added 13 points (perfect from the field making all six shots) respectively for the guests. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Contern. They maintain second place with 4-1 record behind leader Amicale, which they share with Basket Esch. Etzella lost their third game in a row. They keep the eighth position with four games lost. They share it with Sparta. Contern will meet Musel Pikes (#4) in the next round. Etzella will play against Sparta (#9) in Bertrange and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
