Regular Season Round 6: Akita NH - Shinshu BW 86-62

The biggest surprise took place in Akita where host Akita Happinets (6-0) crushed league's leader Shinshu BW (4-2) 86-62 on Sunday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Akita Happinets. Shinshu BW managed to win third quarter 15-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Akita Happinets dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Shinshu BW's 20. They outrebounded Shinshu BW 40-28 including 28 on the defensive glass. Akita Happinets looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Shinshu BW helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was international guard Shigehiro Taguchi (184-90) who scored 24 points and 5 assists. Bahamas power forward Kadeem Coleby (206-89, college: Wichita St.) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). Coleby is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Dai Suzuki (183-90) who recorded 14 points and Yasuhiko Yasuhiko (181-90) added 13 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Akita Happinets have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-0 record, which they share with Fukuoka Rizing. Shinshu BW at the other side still keeps top place with two games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. They were replaced at the leadership position by Gunma. Shinshu BW will play next round against league's leader Fukuoka Rizing trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Akita Happinets will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Aomori Watts on the road.
