Regular Season Round 6: Aomori Watts - Fukushima 78-87

Very expected game when bottom-ranked Aomori Watts (0-6) were defeated at home by second ranked Fukushima (4-2) 87-78 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 31-20 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Fukushima made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game, while Aomori Watts only scored six points from the stripe. Aomori Watts were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American guard Deon Jones (198-93, college: Monmouth) who scored 32 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Shinya Murakami (172-91) chipped in 17 points and 6 assists. Fukushima's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Joe Burton (201-90, college: Oregon St.) who recorded 36 points (!!!), 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and his fellow American import forward Nick Banyard (203-94, college: Cent.Florida) added 18 points respectively. Fukushima keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Aomori Watts still closes the standings with six games lost. Fukushima will face Bambitious Nara (#5) at home in the next round. Aomori Watts will play against the league's leader Akita Happinets and hope to get finally their first victory.
