Joensuun Kataja (2-1) recorded its first loss at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were edged by sixth ranked Salon Vilpas (3-3) 84-81. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Joensuun Kataja. The guests trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 21-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. They outrebounded Joensuun Kataja 49-27 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Aaron Jones (206-93, college: Mississippi) fired a double-double by scoring 23 points, 19 rebounds and 4 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners. The other American import point guard Johnathan Jordan (178-92, college: Texas A&M-CC) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. American point guard Damier Pitts (177-89, college: Marshall, agency: Inception Sports) produced 15 points and 7 assists and guard Ilari Seppala (188-93) added 18 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Joensuun Kataja's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Salon Vilpas moved-up to fourth place. Defending champion Joensuun Kataja dropped to the fifth position with one game lost. Salon Vilpas are looking forward to face Espoo United (#9) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Joensuun Kataja will have a break next round.
