Regular Season Round 8: SeaHorses - Toyama Grouses 86-68

Rather expected game when 3rd ranked Toyama Grouses (3-3) lost to first ranked Aishin Sea Horses (5-1) in Kariya 68-86 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Aishin Sea Horses. Toyama Grouses was better in fourth quarter 24-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Aishin Sea Horses dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Toyama Grouses' 28. Aishin Sea Horses had a 29-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American players dominated the game. Forward Daniel Orton (208-90, college: Kentucky) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 17 rebounds. Center Isaac Butts (208-89, college: Appalachian St.) contributed with 18 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Aishin Sea Horses players scored in double figures. Forward Sam Willard (205-88, college: Pacific, agency: Pensack Sports) replied with 17 points and 8 rebounds and Drew Viney (204-88, college: Loyola Mary) added 7 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Toyama Grouses. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Aishin Sea Horses have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 5-1 record, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Toyama Grouses keep the third place with three games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will face Yokohama BC (#6) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Toyama Grouses will play against the league's second-placed Kyoto Hannar. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
