Regular Season Round 8: San-en - Niigata Albirex 90-88

The most exciting game of round 8 in the B League took place in Hamamatsu. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of one of their biggest challengers Niigata Albirex (3-3) to second ranked San-en NeoPhoenix (4-2) 90-88 in the game for the second place. San-en NeoPhoenix made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. American swingman Cartier Martin (201-84, college: Kansas St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 38 points (!!!). The former international center Atsuya Ota (206-84) contributed with 15 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) replied with a double-double by scoring 47 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds and his fellow American import Austin Dufault (205-90, agency: HMS) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Niigata Albirex. San-en NeoPhoenix have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 4-2 record behind leader Ryukyu GK, which they share with 3 other teams. Niigata Albirex at the other side dropped to the third place with three games lost. They share the position with Hitachi SR and Toyama Grouses. San-en NeoPhoenix is looking forward to face Diamond Dolphins (#5) in Nagoya in the next round. Niigata Albirex will play at home against Hokkaido L. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
