Regular Season Round 6: Iwate Big Bulls - Yamagata 65-77

An interesting game where Yamagata (#5) beat host Iwate Big Bulls (#4) 77-65 on Sunday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Yamagata. Iwate Big Bulls managed to win second period 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Iwate Big Bulls to just 5 points in first quarter. The game was also dominated by American players. Center Will Creekmore (205-89, college: Missouri St.) had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and forward Billy McShepard (208-87, college: Valdosta St., agency: Blacktop Management) chipped in 16 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Four Yamagata players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was swingman Decorey Jones (201-90, college: Faulkner) with 18 points and 6 rebounds and center Michael Buchanan (213-94, college: USC Upstate) scored 9 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Yamagata (2-4) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Tokyo Z. Loser Iwate Big Bulls dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with Kagawa FA and Bambitious Nara. Yamagata will meet at home league's leader Gunma in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Iwate Big Bulls will play against Sendai 89ers (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
