Regular Season Round 3: Catanzaro - Barcellona 71-80

Not a big story in a game when Catanzaro (1-2) was defeated at home by Basket Barcellona (3-0) 80-71 on Sunday. Strangely Catanzaro outrebounded Basket Barcellona 31-18 including 24 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for guard Daniele Grilli (190-87) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points and 5 rebounds. Point guard Giovanni Bruni (185-82, agency: Interperformances) helped adding 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Basket Barcellona's coach Massimo Friso used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was guard Pasquale Battaglia (188-93) with 16 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Luca Calabretta (183-96) scored 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Catanzaro players scored in double figures. Basket Barcellona will face Scauri (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Catanzaro will play against Isernia (#14) and hope to win that game.
