There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked UCAM Murcia (2-2) edged higher ranked Gipuzkoa (2-2) in San Sebastian 69-67 on Sunday. Gipuzkoa was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Quite impressive performance for Surinamese-Dutch guard Charlon Kloof (190-90, college: St.Bonaventure, agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording 12 points. Brazilian Vitor Benite (194-90, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 12 points for the winners. Italian-Argentinian Federico Van-Lacke (191-80) replied with 12 points and Nigerian-American forward Michael Fakuade (201-89, college: Ill.-Springfield) added 14 points in the effort for Gipuzkoa. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. UCAM Murcia moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Gipuzkoa. UCAM Murcia will face higher ranked Valencia Basket (#4) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
