Regular Season Round 5: Ullern - Asker 56-51

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Asker (4-1) in Oslo on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by second ranked Ullern (3-1) 56-51. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Asker. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Asker was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. The former international center Tori Halvorsen (183-88, college: American) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Ingrid Gjerdevik (169-92) contributed with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Forward Ingrid Selvik (178-92) answered with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 16 rebounds and guard Hedwig Johansen (174-99) added 12 points in the effort for Asker. Four Asker players scored in double figures. Asker's coach Pernille Mellem rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion maintains second place with 3-1 record behind leader Asker. Asker at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. Ullern are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Storm Ungdom (#7) in Tromso in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Asker will have a break next round.
