Regular Season Round 4: Mitsubishi K. - Denso Iris 80-85

WJBL round 4 most important game was a victory of Denso Iris over 5th ranked Mitsubishi K. 85-80 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Mitsubishi K.. Mitsubishi K. trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 29-22 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 80-85 at the end of the game. Denso Iris made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. Denso Iris outrebounded Mitsubishi K. 51-27 including a 23-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Maki Takada (183-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 16 rebounds. Point guard Mirai Tamura (164-94) contributed with 18 points and 6 assists for the winners. Denso Iris' coach Hiroshi Kojima used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The former international swingman Aya Watanabe (170-92) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists and point guard Mai Kawai (170-96) added 15 points and 4 steals in the effort for Mitsubishi K.Four Denso Iris and five Mitsubishi K. players scored in double figures. Denso Iris (3-1) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Chanson V-M and Hitachi Cougars. Mitsubishi K. at the other side dropped to the seventh position with two games lost. Denso Iris is looking forward to face higher ranked Toyota A. (#3) in Nagoya in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Mitsubishi K. will play at home against the league's leader Fujitsu RW (#1) and is hoping to win this game.
