Regular Season Round 4: Joventut - Iberostar Tener. 73-76

Bottom-ranked Joventut is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their third consecutive match to eighth ranked CB Canarias (3-1) 76-73 on Sunday evening. The guests trailed by 13 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 3 points. CB Canarias dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Joventut's 34. It was a very good performance for Polish swingman Mateusz Ponitka (196-93) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. The former international center Fran Vazquez (209-83) contributed with 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four CB Canarias players scored in double figures. American swingman Patrick Richard (196-90, college: McNeese St., agency: Inception Sports) replied with 15 points and Jamaican center Jerome Jordan (215-86, college: Tulsa) added 14 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Joventut. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. CB Canarias moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Joventut still closes the standings with three games lost. CB Canarias will face RETAbet BB (#10) in Bilbao in the next round where they are favorite. Joventut will play on the road against Gran Canaria (#5) in Las Palmas and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
