Asseco (2-1) recorded a loss in Torun on Monday night. Visitors were defeated by Twarde Pierniki (3-1) 87-79. The hosts trailed by 9 points at the halftime before their 51-34 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Twarde Pierniki made 16-of-17 free shots (94.1 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was international swingman Karol Gruszecki (193-89, college: Texas Arlington) who scored 16 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international point guard Krzysztof Szubarga (178-84) who recorded 24 points and 6 assists and the former international guard Marcel Ponitka (195-97) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Twarde Pierniki are looking forward to face Rosa (#12) in Radom in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Asseco will play at home against Start (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
