Regular Season Round 1: Tadamon - Byblos 71-93

Another exciting game was played in Zouk between Byblos and Tadamon where Byblos (1-0) crushed Tadamon (0-1) on the road with 22-point difference 93-71. Byblos dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Tadamon's 28. They outrebounded Tadamon 45-24 including a 33-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Byblos players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Ali Kanaan (207-85, college: Mass.-Lowell) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points and 20 rebounds. American swingman Haakim Johnson (201-87, college: Pikeville) contributed with 24 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American forward Sean Barnette (197-86, college: Wingate) answered with 19 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import point guard Patrick Rembert (185-89, college: Cal-Irvine) added 18 points and 4 assists in the effort for Tadamon. Five Byblos and four Tadamon players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Byblos will play against Champville (#3) in Dik El Mehdi in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Tadamon will play on the road against Al Mahad (#6) in Antounieh to get more than just one victory in their record.
