Regular Season Round 5: BC Nokia - Kouvot 79-80

Important game to mention about took place in Nokia. Second ranked Kouvot (5-1) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 3rd placed BC Nokia (3-2) 80-79 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of BC Nokia. BC Nokia was ahead by 4 points after three quarters before a 16-11 charge of Kouvot, which allowed them to win the game. They outrebounded BC Nokia 44-31 including a 35-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international Ville Kaunisto (204-82, agency: Court Side) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 19 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and American forward Thomas Gipson (201-93, college: Kansas St., agency: HMS) chipped in 25 points and 6 rebounds. Center Daniel Dolenc (205-93) responded with 19 points and 4 blocks and American point guard Vincent Council (186-90, college: Providence) scored 12 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kouvot have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. BC Nokia at the other side dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. They share the position with Pyrinto. Kouvot will play against Joensuun Kataja (#6) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. BC Nokia will play against Lapuan Korikobrat and hopes to get back on the winning track.
