The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Helsinki Seagulls (4-2) at the home court on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by sixth ranked Tampereen Pyrinto (3-2) 78-69. Helsinki Seagulls was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 24-13 charge of Tampereen Pyrinto, which allowed them to win the game. Tampereen Pyrinto outrebounded Helsinki Seagulls 45-26 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. American Brian Asbury (201-86, college: Miami, FL) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 16 rebounds. His fellow American import guard JuanYa Green (188-92, college: Hofstra, agency: 3Eye) contributed with 16 points for the winners. International Tuukka Kotti (205-81, college: Providence) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds and American guard Jermaine Marshall (193-90, college: Arizona St., agency: SDJ Sports) added 22 points in the effort for Helsinki Seagulls. Four Helsinki Seagulls players scored in double figures. Tampereen Pyrinto moved-up to fourth place, which they share with BC Nokia. Helsinki Seagulls at the other side dropped to the second position with two games lost. Tampereen Pyrinto is looking forward to face higher ranked Salon Vilpas (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Helsinki Seagulls will have a break next round.
