Regular Season Round 4: Jurmala - VEF Riga 71-75

The biggest surprise of round 4 in LBL was guest VEF Riga's (#3) road victory over Jurmala (#5) 75-71 on Wednesday evening. 24 personal fouls committed by Jurmala helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Lithuanian forward Arnas Labuckas (205-87, agency: Octagon Europe) fired a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. International forward Mareks Mejeris (207-91, agency: Players Group) chipped in 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international guard Haralds Karlis (198-91, college: Seton Hall) produced 24 points and the former international point guard Edgars Jeromanovs (186-86) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. VEF Riga have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains third position with 3-1 record having five points less than leader Ventspils. Jurmala at the other side dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. VEF Riga are looking forward to face league's leader Ventspils at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Jurmala will have a break next round.
