Rather expected game in Kanagawa where 5th ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (3-5) were edged by third ranked Toshiba Thunders (6-2) 85-83 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 13 points after first quarter, but they rallied back winning next two quarters and won the game by 2 points. Toshiba Thunders made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. American power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import forward Josh Davis (203-91, college: San Diego St.) chipped in 10 points and 15 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Canadian center Robert Sacre (213-89, college: Gonzaga) with 12 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Josh Harrellson (208-89, college: Kentucky) scored 10 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Toshiba Thunders have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Chiba Jets and Hokkaido L. Loser Hitachi Sunrockers dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. Toshiba Thunders will face Niigata Albirex (#5) at home in the next round. Hitachi Sunrockers will play against Tochigi Brex and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
