Regular Season Round 7: Metropolitanos - Atleticos 95-69

Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Caracas: Metropolitanos (#5) and Atleticos (#6). Metropolitanos (5-5) crushed visiting Atleticos (0-10) by 26 points 95-69. Metropolitanos dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Atleticos' 30. They outrebounded Atleticos 39-25 including a 32-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for Nelson Palacios (192-92) who led the winners and scored 12 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international forward Lenin Lopez (198-91) accounted for 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Four Metropolitanos players scored in double figures. Grendy Correa came up with 18 points and Christian Marquez added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Atleticos in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Metropolitanos moved-up to third place, which they share with Comuna. Loser Atleticos still closes the standings with ten games lost. Metropolitanos will meet league's leader Guaros 2 in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Atleticos' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Caracas to the arena Comuna.
