Regular Season Round 4: BC Lulea - Umea 80-77

A very close game took place in Lulea between BC Lulea and Umea. Fourth ranked BC Lulea (3-1) got a very close home victory over bottom-ranked Umea (0-4). BC Lulea managed to escape with a 3-point win 80-77 on Friday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Umea won third quarter 20-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when BC Lulea won last quarter 17-16. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Point guard Adam Ronnqvist (181-90) fired 22 points and 5 assists for the winners. Canadian forward Yannick Anzuluni (205-87, college: Houghton) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. BC Lulea's coach Peter Oqvist used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Arik Smith (185-93, college: Cal Lutheran) produced 25 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and his fellow American import point guard Eric Gilchrese (183-87, college: New Hampshire) added 11 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists respectively for lost side. Five BC Lulea and four Umea players scored in double figures. BC Lulea have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Boras. Loser Umea still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Nassjo. BC Lulea will meet at home Boras Basket (#4) in the next round. Umea will play against the league's leader KFUM Jamtland (#1) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
