An interesting game was also tough home defeat of Sokhumi in a game in Tbilisi versus Mgzavrebi (#7) 89-78. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Mgzavrebi made 9 blocks. Cameroonian forward Bertrand Nkali (206-92, college: Houston) notched a double-double by scoring 12 points, 14 rebounds and 7 blocks to lead the effort and American guard Deron Powers (183-92, college: Hofstra) supported him with 18 points and 8 assists. Five Mgzavrebi players scored in double figures. Mgzavrebi's coach Anatoli Berishvili used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 25 points, 6 assists and 4 steals by American point guard Kwan Waller (183-89, college: Ky Wesleyan) did not help to save the game for Sokhumi. Ukrainian guard Bogdan Bayda (193-89, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) added 20 points for the hosts. Mgzavrebi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Olimpi.
